  1. Sistelo and Ecovia do Vez

3 stages hike: where should I start, where should I end?

    How many kms?

Sistelo and Ecovia do Vez are just perfect for a 2-day trip in the Northern part of Portugal.

It combines one of the most beautiful villages in Portugal with probably the best trail in the region, there are others though, and guess what... they are nearby, just in case you want to prolong your stay.

As a bonus you should also know you will never starve. There is great food, nice river beaches with crystaline water, an incredible green all over... nature touches you at each corner!

    Come on and explore  what

Ecovia do Vez and Sistelo have to offer!

    Ecovia do Vez

Ecovia do Vez is a 32 km trail that goes along Lima and Vez Rivers.

Depending on where you want your starting point to be, it starts (or ends) in Jolda S. Paio and ends (or starts) in Sistelo.

We strongly advise you to do this trail from Sistelo to Jolda S. Paio.

Bear in mind this is a very long trail and so it's hard to do in only one day.

However, Ecovia do Vez is divided into 3 stages:

    Stage 1:

Jolda S. Paio to Arcos de Valdevez, around 12 km

Stage 2: Arcos de Valdevez to Vilela, around 10 km

    Stage 3:

Vilela to Sistelo around 10Km, these are also called Passadiços do Vez (Vez Walkways).

The third stage is often referred to as the Sistelo pathway and it’s the most beautiful. If your physical condition has some limitations we advise you to start in Sistelo, if not and you're looking forward to a slightly more diifcult hiking  start at the opposite end, either Jolda S. Paio or Arcos de Valdevez. Starting in Sistelo makes it a lot easier, as you’ll have to mostly descend.
